Srilanka, Oct. 12 -- Four individuals, including the Chairman of the Nawalapitiya Urban Council, his son and son-in-law, have been arrested in connection with an alleged assault incident following a vehicle accident in Nawalapitiya, police said.



The arrests were made by Nawalapitiya Police over allegations that the individuals assaulted a motorcyclist following an accident on the Nawalapitiya-Talawakele main road on the night of October 10.



According to reports, the accident occurred near the Urban Council Chairman's residence when a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian is reportedly an associate of the Chairman. Both the motorcycle rider and the pillion passenger sustained injuries in the incident.
