Srilanka, Oct. 27 -- The Sri Lanka Navy has prepared 171 disaster relief teams to provide immediate assistance to people affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions across the island.

According to the Navy, as of today, a total of 17 relief teams had been stationed across the Sabaragamuwa, North Western, Western, Southern and Eastern provinces, ready to respond to emergencies.

In the Ratnapura area, three teams have been deployed, while two teams are stationed in Yatiyanthota. One team each has also been deployed to Meethotamulla, Nawalapitiya, Gampola and Mahiyanganaya.

Under the North Western Naval Command, two teams have been stationed in Puttalam, with one team each deployed to Nikaweratiya, Kurunegala and Neelabemma.
