SriLanka, June 9 -- A national-level audit on accessibility and sanitation facilities in government institutions providing services to persons with disabilities commenced today (09) at the Sethsiripaya premises in Battaramulla.

Under the 2026 Budget proposals, Rs. 1,000 million has been allocated to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities at public institutions, including Divisional Secretariats, railway stations, bus stands, courts and police stations.

Accordingly, the National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities, operating under the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, has planned to conduct an islandwide audit to assess accessibility in relevant institutions.
