Judicial Service Association's President Pasan Amarasena resigns
Sri Lanka, July 11 -- Magistrate Pasan Amarasena has reportedly resigned from the position of President of the Judicial Service Association, which represents the country's Magistrates and District Judges.
The resignation is reported to have followed a controversy surrounding a special general assembly meeting of the Judicial Service Association convened today (11) by its Secretary.
Reports indicate that the Executive Committee of the association decided to hold the special general assembly meeting at the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court premises to obtain the views of its members regarding the currently debated issue of extending the retirement age of judges.
