Govt allocates Rs. 44 billion for National Housing Programme - Minister
Srilanka, Aug. 6 -- The Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, Dr. Upali Pannila has stated that the government has allocated Rs. 44 billion for the National Housing Development Programme.
The Minister made the announcement while handing over a house built under the "A Comfortable House - An Empowered Family" "Ran Vimana" housing scheme to a homeless Aswesuma beneficiary family in the Pelanwatta West Grama Niladhari Division of the Kesbewa Divisional Secretariat Division (DSD) in the Colombo District today (06).
Dr. Pannila said, under the National Housing Programme, the government plans to provide houses to 30,000 low-income families who have lost their homes this year.
