Srilanka, July 24 -- A former Chief Secretary of the Southern Province has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over procurement-related corruption allegations.



According to CIABOC, the arrest stems from an investigation into the procurement of chairs for public voluntary organisations under Rs. 16.5 million in allocations provided to Southern Provincial Council members in 2019.



The project was implemented through the Southern Province Development Authority, which operated under the purview of the Southern Province Chief Ministry.
