Srilanka, July 15 -- Former Provincial Councillor Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake, the brother of former Minister S.B. Dissanayake, has been arrested in connection with an alleged financial fraud, police stated.



The arrest was made following a complaint received by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), alleging that the suspect had obtained Rs. 27.5 million from a resident of Weeraketiya after claiming that he could secure a liquor licence.



The Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the CCIB launched an investigation into the complaint, which led to Dissanayake's arrest in Hanguranketha yesterday (14).



The 58-year-old suspect is due to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today (15).
