Sri Lanka, July 19 -- Egg prices will be increased from tomorrow (20), with the selling price of a white egg rising to Rs. 41 and a red egg to Rs. 42, according to the All Ceylon Egg Producers' Association.



The President of the Association, Sarath Ratnayake announced the price revision during a media briefing held in Kuliyapitiya today (19).



He claimed that the government and relevant authorities are directly responsible for the increase in egg prices, citing issues related to poultry feed supplies.



Ratnayake said maize imports have been completely suspended, while locally produced maize is insufficient to meet the requirements of the egg industry.
