Sri Lanka, July 2 -- The number of dengue-related deaths confirmed in Sri Lanka in 2026 has increased to 35, the National Dengue Control Unit has confirmed.



Meanwhile, the number of dengue cases reported in the first half of this year has surged past 56,000, following the confirmation of more than 1,000 cases in the past 24 hours.



According to the latest update issued by the National Dengue Control Unit, a total of 55,422 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.



The Acting Director of the Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara said that 1,025 new dengue cases were reported within the past 24 hours alone, indicating a continued rise in infections across the country.
