SriLanka, Sept. 18 -- An Assistant Controller of the Department of Immigration and Emigration has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly assisting in the preparation of an illegal passport for an organized criminal.

The suspect was arrested yesterday (17) by officers of the Special Investigations Unit of the CID at the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

Police said the arrested suspect is a 42-year-old resident of Gampaha.

The Special Investigations Unit of the CID is conducting further investigations into the incident.
