Sri Lanka, April 3 -- The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation, has introduced a dedicated insurance scheme for divers.
This initiative aligns with the government's fisheries policy, the Board said.
Under the scheme, in the event of a diver's death while engaged in fishery-related diving activities, a compensation of Rs. 1.2 million will be provided. To obtain this annual coverage, the fisherman is required to pay a premium of Rs. 1,920.
Additionally, the Board has specified that an annual insurance cover of Rs. 1.5 million can be obtained for a premium of Rs. 2,550, while an annual cover of Rs. 2.0 million requires a premium of Rs. 3,600.
