Sri Lanka, Nov. 7 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber-level advisory for severe lightning affecting several areas across the island.

According to the advisory, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several locations in 22 districts today (07).

The anticipated adverse weather conditions may increase the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning strikes, posing a significant risk to public safety.

These conditions could disrupt outdoor activities, including sports, construction, agricultural operations and public events.

People exposed to the outdoors during thunderstorms may face a risk of serious injury or even death due to lightning strikes.
