Amritsar, Feb. 1 -- The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday passed a resolution demanding the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in protest against the police entering Gurdwara Akal Bunga Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi wearing shoes and resorting to firing in November last year.
During the special meeting held at the SGPC office, several members in their addresses strongly condemned the police action in the Gurudwara and asked for strict punishment to the guilty based on the report of the Sub-Committee formed on the orders of the Akal Takht.
The SGPC members said Mann as the Home Minister of the state is "directly guilty' of religious "misconduct", and demanded his criminal prosecution.
