New Delhi, May 5 -- Heat wave conditions are likely to continue over south Peninsular India till tomorrow and abate thereafter, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

According to IMD, "Heat wave conditions will prevail over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Vidarbha and interior Karnataka for today and tomorrow."

"Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Gangetic West Bengal today, Heatwave conditions over West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra from May 6-9," the IMD said.

The weather department further predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over Northeast India till May 7 and over East & south Peninsular India till May 9.
