Beed, April 30 -- In a big blow to NCP (SP) and Maha Vikas Aghadi ahead of the Lok Sabha election due to be held on May 13, the leader of Banjara community in the previous Sharad Pawar group and an independent candidate from the Beed LS constituency, Ravikant Rathod, joined rival Ajit Pawar's NCP on Tuesday.

Following this development, Rathod has withdrawn his nomination from the Beed LS seat and declared his unconditional support to NCP (AP) and Pankaja Munde, the candidate of the grand alliance (Mahayuti).

He has been appointed as the state head of the VJNT Cell of NCP, a press statement issued by the party stated here.
