Mumbai, April 30 -- A total of 71 candidates withdrew their nominations on Monday, the last day of withdrawal of nominations for the fourth phase Lok Sabha elections to be held on May 13 in 11 constituencies in Maharashtra state.

Now 298 candidates remain in the race, according to the official press statement issued by the state chief electoral officer last night.

As per the final list on Monday, after the withdrawal of nominations by a total of 71 out of 369 valid candidates and scrutiny, there will now be a total of 298 candidates in fray for the Lok Sabha general election.

The maximum of 41 candidates are in fray in the Beed Lok Sabha seat, followed by Aurangabad 37, Pune 35, Maval 33, Shirur 32, Jalna 26, Ahmednagar 25, Raver 24, Sh...
