Sangsad Bhaban, Feb. 27 -- Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon on Tuesday said it is true that people's mistrust of the elections could not be removed.

"Influence of black money, control of special agencies, helplessness of Election Commission in some cases and low voter turnout in urban areas undermined the credibility of elections. But that in no way calls into question the acceptability of the election," he said.

Menon, who was elected with Awami League's boat symbol, said this while participating in the discussion of the thanksgiving motion on the president's speech.

He commented that there was a domestic and foreign conspiracy around the election.
