Nigeria, March 16 -- Some days ago, the International Women's Day 2024, with the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress," was celebrated globally. Although the United Nations mainstreamed this event in 1977, its origin is actually traced to the period of the Russian Revolution, when on 8 March, 1917, a national holiday was declared to honour women. Subsequently, it became an annual event by the socialist movement and most communist countries.
