Kochi, March 9 -- Rahul Gandhi, former president of the Indian National Congress, will seek re-election from Wayanad in Kerala in the ensuing Lok Sabha election. The first list of Congress candidates announced late Friday evening by K C Venugopal, (the AICC Organizational Secretary) has no major changes other than the shifting of K Muraleedharan, the sitting MP from Vatakara to Thrissur. Shafi Parambil, the Islamist leader of the Congress has been fielded from Vatakara.
Venugopal himself is contesting the election from Alappuzha. T N Prathapan, the sitting MP from Thrissur has given way to Muraleedharan and the sudden change has been necessitated because of Padmaja Venugopal (daughter of late K Karunakaran) crossing over to BJP on Thursday...
