Manila, May 2 -- Warm and humid weather will prevail across the country on Thursday, with at least 39 areas likely to experience danger level heat indices, the weather bureau said.

"Because of the effects of El Nino, we expect the country to experience warm and humid weather. Isolated rain showers are likely in the afternoon or evening," Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The temperature in Metro Manila and Tuguegarao could peak at 37C.

As for the heat index, the highest is at 48C in Pili, Camarines Sur, while a 47C heat index is expected in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
