Guwahati, May 8 -- Allegations of misconduct have surfaced against IAS officer Varnali Deka, currently serving as the District Commissioner (DC) of Assam's Nalbari district, igniting a fresh controversy.

Aparna Sarma, a female Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer holding the position of Circle Officer (CO) in West Nalbari Revenue Circle, has accused DC Deka of subjecting her to mental harassment.

According to Sarma's complaint filed at Nalbari Sadar police station, she has endured severe mental distress since January 24, 2024, following an incident related to the procurement of gamosa for freedom fighters.
