New Delhi, April 24 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named Tashi Gyalson as the party's candidate from the Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency. Sitting Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has been dropped.

Tashi Gyalson is the chairman-cum-chief executive councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in Leh.

The Lok Sabha polls for the Ladakh seat are scheduled to be held in the 5th phase on May 20.

Ladakh is the only Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of the union territory of Ladakh, India. It is the largest such constituency in India, in terms of area, with a total area of 173,266 square kilometres (66,898 sq mi). The number of electors (voters) in the constituency was 159,000 in 2019.
