U.S., Jan. 15 -- The lesser-known region of the Penang state in Malaysia is going all out to increase footfalls and visits from Indian tourists.

As part of its efforts, a 14-member sales mission was on a 4-city tour of Indian cities, interacting with travel agents and tour operators.

"The response was good," said Trica Loh, Head of Sales for the Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau, "and this optimism was shared by other attractions and destinations."

The mission was in Delhi on January 14, after visits to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Chennai.

The MICE offerings of Penang were stressed as well as the potential to boost weddings and adventure segments.
