Dhaka, Feb. 19 -- The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has warned that about 574,000 Rohingya refugees in the camps in Cox's Bazar camps might face higher risks in the coming cyclone seasons because rotting bamboo and shredding plastic cannot protect them.

A Red Cross and Red Crescent survey found that 82 per cent of the 700,000 people in sprawling camps urgently need sturdier shelters to protect themselves from extreme temperature, monsoon downpours and cyclones.

The cyclone seasons in Bangladesh are from April to May and October to November every year.
