Bhubaneswar, Jan. 16 -- With the tenure of the elected representatives of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) ending today, the Odisha government may appoint an administrator as a case pertaining to urban local body (ULB) elections is still pending before the Supreme Court.

Earlier in September last year, the Supreme Court had rejected a plea of the State government which had challenged the Orissa High Court order that put a cap on reserved seats at 50%. According to sources, the ULB elections in the State are on hold as a case regarding the reservation of seats in ULBs is still pending in Supreme Court.

In the last BMC elections in 2014, BJD had claimed majority by winning 49 out of the 67 seats and Ananta Narayan Jena took charge as...
