Rabat, Jan. 2 -- The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has reported that 94 journalists were killed in 2018, an increase from 82 in 2017.

The IFJ said in its annual report released Monday that the 94 journalists and mediaworkers died in targeted killings, bomb attacks, and crossfire incidents.

Afghanistan tops the list of dangerous countries to practice journalism, with 16 murders. Mexico witnessed 11 killings, followed by Yemen with 9, and Syria with 8.

India had seven murders. Pakistan, Somalia, and the US witnessed five killings each. The Philippines, Ecuador, and Brazil had three killings each. Columbia, Palestine, and Guatemala had two each.
