SHILLONG, Feb. 15 -- Giving out a clarion call that the country stands united in this hour of distress, a candle light vigil was held in the heart of the city on Friday to pay homage to the 49 CRPF jawans martyred in a terror attack at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir and also to express solidarity with their families.

"This act of terror that happened yesterday is totally condemnable and what has happened must be dealt with firmly," said Chief Minister Conrad Sangma further adding, " I think that the country is completely united and with the government."

He further said that the Prime Minister has convened a meeting and firm message has been sent that action would be taken.
