SRINAGAR, Feb. 18 -- Four soldiers including an Army Major, three militants including a commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad, allegedly linked to Lethpora attack, a police man and a civilian were killed during an 18-hour long encounter at Pinglina near Pulwama today.

DIG south Kashmir Amit Kumar, a Brigadier, a Lt Col and five other security men were also injured.

Security officials said, a Jaish commander, Kamran alias Abdul Rashid Ghazi, killed in the encounter was the mastermind of Lethpora suicide attack in which 49 CRPF men were killed.

The houses in which the militants had taken shelter were blasted and extensively damaged during the encounter.
