Washington, Feb. 16 -- Sri Lanka, strategically located in South Asia, is gradually drawn toward the battle for political-military supremacy in the Indo-Pacific region between the United States and China. The package Washington is offering for this strategically located island is a mixture of maritime security and humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and medical assistance. The emphasis is for the latter but Washington's protracted military design and objectives are the foremost desire to dislodge China in the Asia-Pacific region in gaining supremacy with the help and assistance of allies and partners.

Sri Lanka is considered a partner of the United States in this operation.
