Fare stir: Cabbies block traffic atShankar Chowk

Over 200 trees axed in the Aravallis

Gurgaon, Feb. 21 -- Over 200 trees were axed on Sunday in Mangar Bani, a dense forest area in the Aravallis. The incident took place despite the government creating a 500-metre buffer or no-construction zone on June 13, 2016.

The large-scale tree felling in the area, located 15 km from Gurgaon, marks a blatant violation of the orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to maintain status quo in the Aravallis.

Haryana could lose 30% forest cover if construction ban is lifted

Gurgaon, Feb. 21 -- Haryana could lose as much as 30% forest cover in the naturalconservationzone(NCZ) if the proposed plan of the state government to lift the ban on construction in the zone gets approved.
