'Bodu Bala Sena is an extremist group'

Sri Lanka, March 15 -- Warning that the activities carried out by the Bodu Bala Sena could trigger communal and religious clashes, the Minister of National Languages and Social Integration Vasudeva Nanayakkara has requested President Mahinda Rajapaksa to get the government and Opposition politicians start up programs to build up unity in all electorates.

In a letter addressed to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister Nanayakkara has informed him that Bodu Bala Sena is an extremist group that comes up with provoking statements. "Bodu Bala Sena claims that it only opposes a handful of Muslims extremists who are out to convert the nation into an Islamic state but this organisation makes public statements which could provoke the ethnic groups concerned," it said....
