Sri Lanka, April 24 -- Weerasena Gamage, representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), took the oath as a Member of Parliament on Wednesday, April 24th. The swearing-in ceremony took place before Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at the commencement of the parliamentary proceedings.

Gamage's appointment follows the vacancy left by the passing of SLPP's Anuradhapura District MP, H. Nandasena, earlier this month. Nandasena, who passed away at the age of 69 due to sudden illness on April 5th, left a vacant seat in the Ninth Parliament.
