Jakarta, March 28 -- Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga praised South Sulawesi's Wajo District Government for its success in suppressing child marriage cases and dubbed the district as a role model for other regions.

"According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in 2023, the rate of child marriage in Wajo declined to 6.92 percent, down by 1.14 percentage points, from the 8.06 percent recorded in 2022," she noted in a statement received from her office here on Thursday.

Puspayoga made the statement during her visit to the Office of Wajo District Head on Tuesday (March 26).
