DANG, Feb. 19 -- Every year, the government formulates various policies and work plan regarding the extraction of resources from rivers. As per the work plan, operators of crusher plants and other contractors are allowed to dig only to a certain level of the rivers and are prevented from using heavy machines.
However, even big projects run by the government tend to breach the rules while extracting resources from the rivers. The negligence of contractors not just threatens exhaustion of the resources but also compels the river to change its course. This has put hundreds of lives under the risk of land erosion and inundation.
