New Delhi, April 26 -- India's wheat production outlook for the 2025-26 crop year remains "mixed but resilient", with weather-related disruptions likely to be offset by higher acreage, early sowing, and improved crop practices, according to an official clarification issued in response to recent media reports.
Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, in a statement, said the wheat crop, which was sown on an estimated area of 33.4 million hectares, had witnessed no incidence of insect pests and diseases during the season. Early and timely sowing of wheat in the country, had led to an increase in area over the last year.
