Jaipur, May 22 -- The Rajasthan High Court on Friday directed the state government to conduct elections for the Panchayat Raj Institutions and the civic bodies by July 31, 2026.
A bench headed by acting Chief Justice of the court, Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, passed the verdict on the petitions filed by former MLA Sanyam Lodha and others complaining of the government's failure in holding the panchayat and urban civic bodies polls by the deadline of April 15, 2026, set by the court in its order of November 14, 2025.
The petitioners complained that the term of most of the panchayats and urban civic bodies had been completed long back, and the High Court had also asked them to complete the election process by April 15, 2026.
