Dhaka, May 24 -- Minister for Information and Broadcasting Zahir Uddin Swapan has expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the people of Palestine.

He reaffirmed Bangladesh's firm stance in support of Palestine.

The Information Minister made the remarks on Sunday while addressing a film screening programme on the 'Nakba' or 'Catastrophe' organized by the Palestinian Embassy in Dhaka.

Palestinians commemorate the forced displacement of a vast number of Palestinians from the occupied Palestinian territories by Israel in 1948 as the "Nakba" or "Catastrophe."
