Sri Lanka, June 4 -- The Government on Monday approved a proposal to launch the Mithuru Purawara programme, a new urban development initiative aimed at improving public amenities and enhancing the quality of life in smaller towns across Sri Lanka.

Cabinet Spokesman and Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said urban development has been identified as a key priority in the 2026 Budget, with the Mithuru Purawara programme introduced to support the sustainable development of selected towns across the country.
