Tashkent, April 8 -- According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in January-March, Uzbekistan's state budget deficit exceeded $1.56 billion at the Central Bank exchange rate. This is a new record for the last 12 years.

This is 1.7 times more than in the first quarter of 2023 and almost 20 times more than the same indicator for 2022.

The deficit totaled 5.8 trillion soums in January, 7.2 trillion soums in February and 6.8 trillion soums in March.

Budget revenues grew by 6.8% compared to the first quarter of last year, while expenditures increased by 19.3%.

In 2024, the state budget revenues are forecasted at 270.4 trillion soums, expenditures - 280.7 trillion soums, deficit - 10.3 trillion soums.
