Tashkent, April 8 -- Uzbekistan's Agriculture Ministry has denied that the increase in sugar prices is due to possible restrictions on sugar exports from Russia. The ministry stated that domestic production capacities in Uzbekistan are sufficient to meet the country's needs.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture sugar enterprises, Angren Shakar and Khorezm Shakar, have an annual production capacity of over 900,000 tonnes. This exceeds the domestic market requirements. The annual demand for sugar in Uzbekistan ranges from 650,000 to 700,000 tonnes.
