ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 1 -- United States Patent no. 11,970,484, issued on April 30, was assigned to OrsoBio Inc. (Palo Alto, Calif.).

"LXR modulators with bicyclic core moiety" was invented by Christian Gege (Ehingen, Germany), Olaf Kinzel (Heidelberg, Germany), Eva Hambruch (Mannheim, Germany), Manfred Birkel (Seeheim-Jugenheim, Germany), Claus Kremoser (Heidelberg, Germany) and Ulrich Deuschle (Speyer, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to bicyclic compounds (e.g. indoles) containing a sulfonyl moiety, which bind to the liver X receptor (LXRAlpha and/or LXKBeta) and act preferably as inverse agonists of LXR."
