Mumbai, April 23 -- Extending the rally for the third consecutive day, the BSE Sensex on Tuesday spurted 400 points to open at 74,048.94 as buying was seen across the board.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 111 points to 22,447.05.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,447.55 and 22,355.85 points, respectively.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 74,059.89 and 73,763.91 points, respectively.

The mid cap gained 0.27 pc and the small cap gained 0.79 pc.

In 30 seconds, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 2.35 pc to Rs 1329, HCL Technology by 1.56 pc to Rs 1488.60, Tata Motors by 0.97 pc to Rs 983, and Titan by 0.92 pc to Rs 3631.
