Mumbai, May 9 -- The BSE Sensex remained weak for the third straight session on Thursday, tumbling down 517.72 points to 72948.67 in the opening session as selling was seen across the board.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 164.35 points to 22,138.15.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,307.75 and 22,130.10 points, respectively.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 73,499.49 and 72,886.96 points, respectively.

The midcap fell by 0.74 pc and the small cap by 0.83 pc.

In 30 scrips, 8 advanced while 22 declined.

The losers were L&T by 4.44 pc to Rs 3330.55, JSW Steel by 1.69 pc to Rs 850.30, Tech Mahindra by 1.72 pc to Rs 1264.50 and TCS by 1.20 pc to Rs 3921.30.
