Kolkata, Feb. 17 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday mourned the demise of yesteryear actress Anjana Bhowmick who passed away at a city hospital earlier in the day.

Bhowmick was 79.

In a condolence message, Banjerjee said the actress left a legacy of her three decades acting in the Bengali cinemas, which were unforgettable among the moviegoers.

Her roles in movies like Nishibasar, Prathm Basanto, Mahasweta, Nayika Sanbad and Thana Theke Aschi were among others still remembered in the movie world, the Chief Minister said.

The state government had conferred the actress with a " special award" in 2012. Her death caused an irreparable loss in the cinemas, Banerjee said and conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved family...
