Pune, March 17 -- Following announcement of Lok Sabha election schedule by the Election Commission of India, the local self-government bodies should immediately start implementing the model code of conduct in their respective areas, directed district collector Dr Suhas Diwase on Sunday.

Addressing a meeting organised via a video link at the collector's office here, he said that the model code of conduct for elections has come into force in the country and it will remain in force till June six and voting will be held in two phases in the district.

In view of this, the local self-government bodies should remove posters, flags, cutouts, messages from the government, semi-government offices, public places and submit the report within 24 hours...
