Ludhiana (Punjab), April 30 -- Congress candidate from Ludhiana Lok Sabha constituency and wife
of Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, Amrita Waring apologised Tuesday for causing distress by her statement comparing the party symbol to Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev's 'panja' (hand).
Amrita Waring said, "First of all, I want to apologise to all those whose feelings have been hurt by the statement knowingly or unknowingly. My intention was not to hurt anyone's feelings. I apologise to all of you.
While campaigning for the Congress, Amrita Waring had compared the Congress' hand symbol to that of the divine Guru Nanak Dev ji at a meeting. The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh sought the apology.
