New Delhi, Dec. 29 -- Power generation is expected to reach 481 billion units in the first quarter of the coming financial year, up 10% from the corresponding period this year, considering industrial growth, climatic conditions, and domestic consumption. This also includes an anticipated demand for the general elections likely to be held between April and May, sources said.

Of the estimated generation, 346 billion units are expected from coal-based units, as per an assessment done by the power ministry. Domestic coal-based plants are likely to generate 328 billion units in the quarter.
