Dhaka, May 1 -- A court of Habiganj sentenced seven people to death and 10 others to life imprisonment for beating a senior citizen to death in 2003.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-1 Court Judge Md. Azizul Haque handed down the verdict on Tuesday afternoon.
The court also fined the convicts Tk one lakh each.
Habiganj District and Sessions Judge Court Additional Public Prosecutor Saleh Uddin Ahmed confirmed the media about the verdict.
He said of the convicts, one is on the run.
On February 14 of 2003, Harun Mia, a senior citizen of the area in Hurgaon village of Habiganj Sadar Upazila, was beaten to death by blocking the road due to a communal dispute.
