Dhaka, May 6 -- Russian news agencies on Saturday reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had been added to a Kremlin wanted list.

Though the Russian Interior Ministry provided no details about the charges leveled against Zelensky, it said that a case had been opened against him "under an article of the criminal code."

The move is seen as largely symbolic, since Zelensky is not on Russian soil.

Russia justified its invasion of Ukraine on the grounds that Kyiv was supposedly repressing the country's Russian-speaking citizens, with Russian President Vladimir Putin urging Kyiv's military to overthrown Zelensky in a national address the day after Moscow launched its "special military operation" on February 24, 2022.
