Dhaka, Feb. 14 -- Mamoon Mahmood Shah, the Managing Director and CEO of NRB Bank, has stepped down citing personal reasons.

Mamoon's resigned about two weeks before the contract was due to expire. His tenure was set to end on 2 February but he submitted his resignation to the bank's chairman on 21 January.

Earlier, four bank MDs resigned last year. Among them, three MDs have been reinstated by the Bangladesh Bank.

Mamoon Mahmood sent a resignation letter to the chairman of the private commercial lender on January 21, saying he is unable to continue in his job

because of some personal reasons.

He confirmed his resignation to the journalists and said, "I was feeling discomfort at the bank, so I resigned."
